Under the presence of Kyoshu-sama, and in the company of his wife Mayumi-okusama and Masaaki-sama, the Grand Ancestor Service was held on August 3rd and 4th in the city of Numazu’s Plaza Verde Kira Messe, where approximately 4,500 people gathered including attendees from Korea and Brazil. Members of the Japanese Diet, Mr. Kunihiko Muroi and Ms. Haruko Arimura were also in attendance.
The service began at 1 pm. In the quietness enveloping the venue, Kyoshu-sama solemnly entered the stage altar and turning to the goreiji (ancestor’s tablet) arranged there, he began with the Invitation to the Souls. He then read aloud the Opening Prayer to God. Next, everyone prayed the Amatsu Norito and Zengen Sanji followed by a greeting to Meishu-sama. After the teaching, “The relationship between salvation and judgment,” was heard, everyone received Johrei from Kyoshu-sama.
After a greeting from Rev. Narii, President of Su no Hikari Kyodan, the video, “To Become Children of God: Kyoshu-sama’s Missionary Visit to Brazil,” was aired. Next, Kyoshu-sama’s successor, Masaaki-sama stood to deliver a greeting.
Masaaki-sama touched upon the significance of the mitamaya and pointed out that the mitamaya exists for us to interact with our ancestors who are within us and to receive the forgiveness of God together with them.
This forgiveness of God is the love that forgives what is unforgiveable, and God unilaterally forgave us, those of us of all humanity who were unforgiveable. He boldly went on to say of this immeasurable love of God, “I would like to receive it together with all of you and our ancestors.”
Next, Kyoshu-sama took the podium and clearly expressed that our ancestors and we are “one body of God,” that God made us the true goreiji, and in order for all humanity and our ancestors to receive salvation, He is using our minds, thoughts and feelings as His invaluable footholds.
He gave us guidance saying that it is crucial to acknowledge that all that we see, hear and feel are matters that are connected to the Messiah within us, to the central axis within us.
Afterwards, all in attendance sang “Divine Light Hymn” and “Goin’ Home.” At the end, Kyoshu-sama once again entered the stage altar and closed with the Return of the Souls. As Kyoshu-sama, Mayumi-okusama and Masaaki-sama were exiting the venue, they responded to members’ handshakes, picture opportunities and suchlike, friendlily interacting with everyone. As if Kyoshu-sama and the members were family, it was a service with a warm atmosphere filled with joy.
